Every picture of an Ultimate sideline looks the same, with milling around and cleats and backpacks on the ground. I only love this one because this is MY sideline and these are the people that reach to hug me whenever we walk near each other. We've played together for years and driven to tournaments together and partied together. Which is why I succumbed to peer pressure and came out of Ultimate retirement to play in Fall League. It has been great. Running down a disc does not get old. Playing under lights always feels like you snuck into the big leagues. The evenings are still balmy.
My team and I have played together long enough that they know where I'll cut and how fast I am. They know I'll throw long. We know each others' minds by now, which is why Dave posed Steve for this shot without any prompting from me at all. F'reals. Somehow Dave just knew. That's how close we all are and why we're going to win all our games.
