With a completely full weekend booked, Ali needed an art project. Actually, Ali needs an art project all the time. We choose the screen door. I wish I'd taken a picture of it, ripped and broken and plain and functional. This might show you some of it.
We took it down, made it beautiful and re-screened it. Now it looks like this.
Can you see them? That's a bright red background and all the paisleys we could paint. Also, all the paisleys the several friends who stopped by wanted to paint.
Now my plain door looks conspicuous in its fantastic red frame. Now my plain door should maybe get a makeover. I always thought I wanted a red door, but a red frame around a red door is silly. I am contemplating a cheerful yellow door. Or a blue door.
Sure, I'll show you more of the paisley details.
Ali thought the paisleys looked like fish.
I thought they looked like swans, but Anand's lady called them peacocks.
Basically the whole screen door looks like this. I am so very happy about it.
I loved spending hours with Ali, figuring out the next steps and doing them. I loved sitting on the porch doing crafty things and watching the street. I wish she were coming back to live with me. My life is so much better when she lives here.
It's beautiful.

Inspiring project. I'll do something similar with friends for my home to honor their friendship and presence in my life. For those of us new to the scene, perhaps a photo of you and an update on who Ali might be?

Ali was a friend and then roommate that I especially clicked with. She went to the Peace Corps, breaking my heart. Here are the two of us:

You forgot to mention that it won in several categories of Pie Contest.
